Just think about this for a minute: It is summer and it is hot, with a gentle breeze blowing the scent of the neighbour’s jasmine your way. Oh, it is also Friday and you’re done with work for 48-hours. What do you do? I’ll tell you what I do. I pop open a bottle of MCC bubbly.
It’s my thing. I love it. I love the taste and the little bubbles on my tongue.
It is pretty obvious then that my favourite day of the year is the Franschhoek Cap Classique and Champagne Festival, happening this weekend, Saturday 29th November.
Set in the picturesque town of Franschhoek, with the impressive Huguenot Monument dominating the backdrop, it is a day of sipping the best of the bubbles from South Africa and France.
One of my all time favourites will be there – Haute Cabrière, with their beautifully nutty Pierre Jourdan MCC.
Of course, one of the best things about the festival is getting to spend the night in the quaint little town… but where to find the after party?
You can always hit the local pub and a few restaurants, but if you want something really special, then head over to The Home of Pierre Jourdan. They have Louise Carver playing a beautiful evening set, and I have witnessed some pretty hot sunsets from the helipad.
So, what’s the whole evening entail? It’s a three-course dinner including wine, for R495 per person. You’ll wine and dine in the exquisite venue, and listen to one of SA’s gems. It starts at 19h00, so you have time to idle through the town first.
We’re giving away two double tickets to the evening at Haute Cabriere – if you want to win them for you and your plus one, tell us in the comments section below how you like to enjoy your MCC.
Creativity wins.
Winners will be announced on Thursday.
Judges decision is final.
