Whilst Basingstoke may go back many hundreds of years, the little market town, which grew considerably in the 1960’s, is nothing to really write home about. There are a few celebs associated with the greater area (Liz Hurley, Jody Scheckter, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Harry Styles to name a few) which may have helped with putting the city on the map, but this video game is really going to do it.
Puppygames, a video game company, usually creates games by the likes of Droid Assault and Revenge of the Titans. This time, though, they’ve gone and developed a simple game called Battledroid, and it is based in Basingstoke.
The one and only aim of the game?
Under cover of darkness you’ve got to do what any normal person would do when in Basingstoke – which is try to get as far away from Basingstoke as you can. It’s a brutal arcade roguelike game with no hitpoints, only instant death. Your main tools are sneaking, distraction, surprise, and running away.
Actually it sounds quite riveting.
