I love a good book. Few things are more wonderful than curling up in winter in front of the fireplace, snug in a blanket with a mug of hot chocolate. In the complete opposite, can you think of anything better right now than laying on the beach, with a combination of warm sun and cool breeze touching your skin, engrossed in an enthralling story about descendants of 12 000-year old civilizations and conspiracies?
Yeah, I thought not.
What’s great is there have been a few really good South African authors breaking into the scene of late. I’ve read a whole lot (I’m a massive bookworm) on my Kindle, and can’t press the page buttons fast enough – our authors are nailing it.
Here’s a newbie for us: marketing guru Richard Gardner is launching his debut thriller novella, Return to Lemuria, this week.
Shall I tell you a bit more about the story? I think so…
It’s set in New York, Barbados, Mexico and the Amazon, and introduces Billy Bayer and Dr David Steel. Billy is taken prisoner by a secret organization and is taught how to tap into his extra-sensory abilities. He plans to thwart the organization’s very existence, but needs the help of the doctor. Cue racing through countries, adventure filled pages and characters that grow during the story.
Just a little FYI: Richard works in brand marketing, but loves writing, and, well, you only live once. He has grasped what he wanted to do with both hands, which is something we should all incorporate into our lives.
Want to meet the author and creator of Lemuria? Pop into La Perla on Saturday 15th November and have Richard sign your newest summer novel.
