Things that are not fun: the door to your airplane falling off mid-flight. It’s one of those occurrences you just never expect to happen. Not even in your wildest dreams (but maybe in your nightmares…).

Bono and some of his friends were on a private Learjet from Dublin to Berlin when their plane started to fall apart.

When Bono and his crew reached the German coast, flying at about 8,000ft, the tailgate of the plane became detached.

All of the singer’s luggage fell out the jet, as well as his friend’s, and the group was lucky to not have to don oxygen masks.

He was extremely lucky, the plane could have gone down. About an hour into the journey they heard a big thud coming from the rear of the plane. They were startled for a bit but they continued on and made the descent into Berlin airport. When they landed they were horrified to learn that the compartment at the rear of the plane had completely detached.

Aviation authorities in Germany have started an investigation.
