There’s nothing like a bit of surprise porn, which is what app developer Carl Smith got from Apple.
After sending in an app he had created that could be used to view porn without actually going in search of it, Apple replied with this:
Please bear in mind that Apple did not have the courtesy of popping that little black rectangle in the original image.
At least Carl is taking it with a pinch of salt…
It turns out Apple thought the best way to tell us our app could be used to surf porn was to surf for porn using our app. Then send us some pictures and say take a look at these! Except they said, “Please see the attached screenshot for more information.” So with no warning… CLICK — Well hello there handsome!
But why the creepy masturbation pic? Carl says he totally gets why Apple did that – “They wanted his company to improve the ability to flag inappropriate content in the app”.
