Ah yes. The gentlemen’s game played (and supported) by hooligans.
Manchester United played Man City at a derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, and whilst I am not sure about what happened during the game, or who even won, I do know that over 100 hooligan supporters decided to have a little-big brawl in the streets after the game.
Manchester’s Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd said the scenes were a throwback to the worst era of English football violence. “This is the face of football past. We thought we had gone beyond this. People feel very strongly about the derby game but it shouldn’t end in people brawling in the street.”
Yes, well. It’s football and it’s England.
Five people were arrested and one man had a broken nose.
