With five South African sports people passing away last week, we should be a sad nation, not an arguing one. Yet here we are, calling each other names on social media, forgetting the whole reason you took to Twitter anyway.
Of the five who passed away, two have been given provincial funerals, awarded by Zuma. And that’s fair enough – one was the captain of our national soccer team.
But Gareth Cliff asked a very reasonable question which ended in a twar.
Obviously many people lost their cool over him asking who ended up paying for the funerals, and Gareth has now been compared to Steve Hofmeyr.
You and Steve Hofmeyr have something in common. Your careers are sustained by creating controversy. Ignorantly, you say things and later say you wont apologise. Well, Steve Hofmeyr says racists things and does not apologise because he does not think they’re racist. You also say ignorant things and say you wont apologise because you dont know you are being ignorant.
