Wow, Russia. Not much freedom there…
A massive two meter high iPhone has been removed from the courtyard of an IT university in St Petersburg, because the current CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, is gay.
The iPhone was intended for students to learn about Steve Jobs, with interactive displays and information.
Western European Financial Union (ZEFS) has said that the statue could “violate a recent Russian law banning the ‘advocacy of lifestyles contrary to traditional family values among minors'”.
In another moment of hysteria, ZEFS has said that should the iPhone be reinstalled it will
let passers-by use the interactive feature to “send a message direct to the US National Security Agency and Apple HQ, saying they are refusing to use technology that spies on its subscribers.
ZEFS founder Maxim Dolgopolov thinks that the US and Apple can spy on people via the giant iPhone.
The phone could also have been removed for repairs, says The National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.
