A deer that was made to dress up for Halloween is making international headlines…
But really. A fanged deer in Afghanistan has been spotted for the first time in 66 years.
The Kashmir musk deer is an endangered species due to poaching and loss of habitat. The male deer sports large fangs, which are used to fight off other male deer during mating season.
The deer are “discrete” and “difficult to spot”, and have been labelled as “one of Afghanistan’s living treasures”.
