I was trying to decide what to dress up as for Halloween. Usually I don a pair of pink ballet tights, a leotard and a very short tutu and spend the day pirouetting around the office and various bars. This year, because it was a long, never ending winter, I shall just be wearing a big brown sack. Yes, I put on a bit of extra weight this winter and am struggling to lose it and I don’t know why have not yet had time to go to gym. I also, suddenly, at the tender age of 30, cannot eat enough chocolate. Maybe this is why I am dressing up as a sack of potatoes?
I started doing a bit of research the other day about different kinds of fats that you can eat, and what types of fat we have in our bodies. We NEED to have fat in our bodies in order for our organs to be able to function, and for their protection. We get this “good fat” from eating foods like avo, nuts and salmon. Then we just have fat, which is where we get our energy from, and lastly we have the abnormal fat which we accumulate from eating bags of crisps and bars of chocolate and which we struggle to lose.
Of course, because our bodies are so intricate, there can be medical reasons for holding on to the fat which makes us fat. If you have a resistance to leptin, appetite and hunger increases, metabolism drops and all food consumed is converted into fat and stored. How wonderful for us. Another thing to worry about.
But then, surely, the opposite is true? Yes! If you are pro-leptin, your body will happily metabolise fat, making the odd choccie alright.
There is a way to rectify your body’s attitude to leptin, and this is where Body Renewal comes in to play. They offer Slender Wonder, which is a medical weight loss program. It is based on treating low leptin levels and consists of a four pronged approach to weight loss: a low GI diet, supplements, a low GI meal replacement shake, and daily injections with a lipotrophic substance that releases the abnormal fat in the body.
With Body Renewal‘s Medical Doctors and qualified nurses, you’re not going to be left alone either. Regular check-ups with your nurse will mean results will be noted and you will be monitored.
Go on, get yourself healthy on the inside, and you’ll probably feel happier on the outside (and you won’t have to dress up as a sack of potatoes ever again).
