South African Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula has spoken out about Oscar and his future career.
“For me, that [Pistorius’s conviction and sentence] was the end of the road of his journey… I do not think Oscar will be able to come back in terms of athletics.”
Mbalula went on to say that Oscar has opened doors internationally for South Africa with regards to sport, adding that “Oscar was the epitome of wisdom, skill and triumph over adversity”.
The International Paralymic Committee has stated that Oscar is banned from competing in the 2016 Paralympics, even if he is out of prison by that time.
