Air New Zealand’s Safety Video Has To Be Seen To Be Believed [Video]

They could cut the duration of flights by five minutes if they just assumed everyone knew how to use the oxygen masks. But you know what they say about assumption.

If, like me, you have been flying since you were just a foetus, you will understand how long and boring (albeit important) the safety demonstration on a plane can be. Anyone with any level of common sense can use the seatbelt, and I know that the nearest exit might be behind me. I do however have fears of some tart popping the emergency slide with her Jimmy Choos.

Air New Zealand obviously knows how dull the announcements can be, and they have seriously gone to extreme efforts to make it entertaining.

What’s that? That’s an orc from Middle Earth showing you how to use the oxygen mask. Yes, Air NZ takes you on a mini-adventure during their four and half minute The Hobbit themed safety video.

What’s great is they even have Peter Jackson and Elijah Wood make a cameo appearance.

Go make that cup of tea you’ve been dying for all morning and have a little watch.
