Jacob Zuma had a few words to say about the Oscar trial, and rightfully so. South Africa’s most closely watched trial has enabled everyone to have an opinion and can probably be put onto the list of “top five dinner conversations”.
Speaking from Pretoria, Zuma spoke about how some aspects were taken too far by lawyers, for example, the fact that “even in a hospital section the athlete would be exposed to diseases”.
Zuma, however, spoke about Pistorius being “a hero in a very special way”, and went on to praise Judge Masipa and the judicial system.
“Very fair, very open. Not just to other people but even to South Africans, because usually South Africans are not informed. This time around, in their own houses they were informed as to how things happen.”
After all this comment though, ANC spokesperson Mac Maharaj said that Zuma was never a part of an interview, and that the impression that he made comment has been created by a reporter at a media freedom luncheon. So let’s not take this all too seriously…
