Dutch charity Terre des Hommes has been hard at work catching pedophiles and making the world slightly safer for children.
They created a computer-generated child, named Sweetie, and so far she has managed to collect the names of over 1000 offenders. The information for these people was then given to Interpol, who gave it to 71 countries.
Charity workers from Terre des Hommes posed as Sweetie, a 10-year old Filipino girl, during the project.
A man who has been arrested in Australia, Scott Robert Hansen, was caught like this:
Hansen: hi u really 9yo
Sweetie: Yes
H: wanna chat or cam with older?
H: I like asian chicks, are you… for action
H: i’m naked, ever seen a guy naked?
Hansen then performed a sex act for Sweetie via his webcam. Charming. (He has to undertake a sex offender treatment program.)
Some of the men we interacted with literally give me nightmares.
Hans Guyt, who heads up the program, has said that the only way to catch offenders is to “patrol the internet” and that the police “had to be more proactive”.
