Joan Rivers’ tragic passing last month left a lot shocked, as the veteran comedienne looked like she’d go on forever, but now the actual cause of death has been revealed.
Rivers reportedly suffered from “anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest”,which is fancy way of saying “low blood oxygen” during her procedure to evaluate her throat issues.
“The classification of a death as a therapeutic complication means that the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy,” Fox News reports that the Office of Chief Medical Examiner said. This ruling distinguishes it from more common classifications like homicide, suicide and natural causes, according to AP.
The procedure and Rivers’ passing is currently being investigated by the Medical Department.
