After U2 and Apple’s ridiculous marketing stunt to plug the Irish band’s new album failed, U2 frontman Bono has now realised the error of their ways.
The tech company and long-running band decided to pre-install the band’s new album on iTunes users’ accounts without the consent of the user, causing a bit of a snafu for both parties.
I’m sorry about that, said Bono in a Q&A with Facebook users, who asked him to please never force their music on iTunes users again.
I had this beautiful idea and we got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard.
Bono, you spelled “we wanted more money” wrong.
If you’re a Bono/U2 fan, you still have the god given right to choose to listen to them. Thankfully you can, here.
