Wow. This is a whole new level of company benefits…
Apple and Facebook, two of the world’s most famous brands, now offer egg-freezing to their female employees.
Facebook has had this on offer for a while, and Apple will be starting the option from the new year.
“Having a high-powered career and children is still a very hard thing to do,” said Brigitte Adams, an egg-freezing advocate and founder of the patient forum Eggsurance.com.
Adams goes on to say that this is a way for companies to invest in women. The mostly male dominated companies in Silicon Valley are trying their hardest to lure women into working for them, and this might be to everyones advantage.
The procedure of freezing eggs can cost $10 000.
Philip Chenette, a fertility specialist, says this can be viewed as a sort of “payback for women’s commitment”.
