Yes. Apparently there is a chance that someone crazy out there who thinks it’s “not fair” that Oscar got off with just a culpable homicide charge, could bust into the court room and shoot at Oscar.

“The police in these kinds of high-profile cases… do a threat assessment, which is not a once-off thing.”

Security at the court was heightened on Monday, with a bag scanner and a walk-through metal detector at the entrance to the court, and Oscar was escorted into the building by policemen in bulletproof vests.

The sentencing will continue for the rest of the week (but hopefully we get a result on Thursday).
