Oh good. I can’t wait to board an international flight in a few weeks time. I am imagining that by that stage Ebola will either be under control, or we will all be wearing full hazmat suits and communicating via a fun game of charades.
To make matters worse, I am flying Emirates, so hopefully they do a full disinfecting of this airplane.
A Dubai to Boston flight had to be quarantined yesterday after five passengers began “exhibiting flu-like symptoms”. Whilst none of the five were travelling from west Africa, it is still a massive worry. Boston Logon International Airport is not equipped to screen for Ebola – only five US airports are.
Emergency crews had to board the plane in protective hazmat suits and remove the five passengers. The rest of the passengers were kept on board for over three hours.
“After discussions with our partner hospitals Boston Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital, the Boston Public Health Commission’s Infectious Disease Bureau has determined that the patients who arrived on Emirates Flight 237 at Logan International Airport do not meet the criteria for any infections of public health concern, including Ebola, MERS, or meningococcal infection.”
