There is nothing quite as wonderful as being driven around: you can look out the window and relax and take in the scenery. I loathe driving, so being able to order an Uber has changed my life (I also very rarely have cash and if I do, it’s floating in crunched up balls at the bottom of my handbag).
On Friday, uber literally took me to new heights. On a helicopter, to be exact. Because Cape Town is The Place To Be in summer, we’re being blessed with uberCHOPPER.
Yes, that’s right. You can now uber to your helicopter ride, and have everything seamlessly organised for you. What a dream.
All you need to do is open your Uber app and request an uberCHOPPER. Then, once you’ve been collected by uberBLACK, Cape Town Helicopters will give you a call, and you can book your flight. Easy. As. That.
I got treated to a beautiful ride, called the Two Oceans (R1 800). Over the turquoise waters of Camps Bay and Llandudno, along the 12 Apostles, across to Hout Bay and along Chapman’s Peak. I could see as far as Simon’s Town, and even managed to spot my house from the air. With glorious views of Table Mountain and Robben Island, you will, like me, take 84 thousand photos. You can also do a full flip of the peninsula, right down to Cape Point (R3 500).
What’s great is you can charter a flight to pretty much anywhere. If there is a helipad, then your chopper can land. I think my next trip will be to Haute Cabriere in Franschhoek so I can sip their beautiful MCC.
uberCHOPPER will run until 31 March 2015. For more info check out their blog.
