My god, this woman can do no wrong.
Angelina Jolie has received a damehood (full name: Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George) from HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Receiving the damehood is the female equivalent of being knighted.
Her services to UK foreign policy and the campaign to end war zone sexual violence were acknowledged on Friday, with a 20 minute private audience with The Queen. Her new husband, Brad Pitt, and their six children, later entered the 1844 room and met The Queen.
“To receive an honor related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to. Working on PSVI and with survivors of rape is an honor in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.”
Because Angie is American, she cannot be called Dame Angelina, “but will bear the title with the initials of the award, DCMG, after her name”.
