Well this seems fairly typical and of no surprise at all.
The Tshwane Metro has wasted some more money. The TribeOne festival, which promised international acts like Nicki Minaj, and which cost R25million in deposits, was cancelled by the organisers, Rockstar4000.
The deputy city manager, Lindiwe Kwele, breached the Municipal Finances Management Act, and Rockstar4000 found this concerning. The director of Rockstar4000, Johannes Ferreira Louw, raised his concerns with Kwele, to which she responded:
“Fact: Our justification for breaching MFMA by paying u guys all R25m was to ensure that artists are secured so I don’t think EM [the mayor] will accept this excuse”.
The matter was taken to court, with the Tshwane metro trying to put blame on Rockstar4000 for the cancellation. It has been described as an attempted cover up for the breaching of the Municipal Finances Management Act.
Basically, the Tshwane metro used too much money and Rockstar4000 wasn’t happy about being involved.
What a waste.
