It is ALWAYS nice to have famous friends. They let you use their names for restaurant bookings and there is always a great VIP area with bottles of vodka and Champagne.
Also, they sometimes let you use them for art projects.
That’s what photographer Sandro Miller did. He wanted to do a little tribute to his mentor Irving Penn. Penn is known for his beautiful photography of celebrities, most notably a portrait of Truman Capote.
Which is where the famous friend comes in… Miller realised that his actor friend John Malkovich resembled Capote.
“For me, John is a beautiful, clean canvas ready for paint. He is extremely open minded, never fearful and always willing to go to places most actors of his caliber would avoid. His willingness to play dress up, and become the subject of some of the most iconic images from history, is a true gift.”
Since using Malkovich as Capote, Miller has used him to recreate many more portraits, all paying homage to famous portraits…
