Well played. But really.
An anonymous man bet £900 000 that Scotland would vote no in the referendum that was held on September 18, and thank god the odds were in his favour.
But whilst the cheque he received was for £1 093 333.33, he only ended up gaining just under £200 000.
“I’d call it responsible gambling. And my main advice would be ‘don’t try this at home’.”
The man claims he is a data geek and an information nerd, and did a lot of research about the odds of it being a yes or no outcome. After going through the results of 85 polls across Scotland, which were all a no vote, he decided to take the risk. The final decision to take the gamble was made with his wife.
