God I feel sorry for this princess. No, seriously. I do. She is trapped in a marriage she probably doesn’t want to be in, in a country she doesn’t want to live in, with no family or friends, and a population that is less than enamoured by her being in their royal family. She should be as happy as a pig in you-know-what.
Yet there she lives, lonely in Monaco, and she is pregnant. At least the Monegasques (Monaco dwellers) are happy at the prospects of an heir come December.
“Although I have met some wonderful people since I’ve been living in Monaco, I regard them all as acquaintances. I only have two people I consider friends here.”
Charlene has had to live for the past three years under huge pressure to produce an heir for Albert. She has refused to learn to speak French, and has reportedly had a fair amount of cosmetic surgery. So it’s really only fair that Monaco doesn’t exactly love her.
“She does not expect to be suddenly warmly welcomed into Monaco society, but she does think that after giving birth – especially if it’s a son – she will be more free to go off and do her own thing.”
Hopefully this is true for her.
Also, because it is Monaco, the Monegasques don’t like that she is from Benoni. They think she is “common as muck”.
No amount of Louis Vuitton could keep me in this unhappy lifestyle.
