What happened to the good ole days when we needed massive floppy disks that could barely store a song!? They were much easier to spot in a messy desk drawer and you could also slap people with them. Bonus!
Anyway, gone are those days, and storage tech company Sandisk has revealed a 512GB SD card, which really shows how far we’ve come.
The Extreme Pro SDXC card (UHS-1) is the world’s first SD card with room for 512 gigabytes of data — more than a half a terabyte of storage. To put that into perspective, 128GB is starting capacity for most Ultrabooks and the MacBook Air, and 256GB is common for most PC solid-state disk (SSD) drives today.
The Extreme Pro SDXC card is recommended for 4K video capture and costs $800 (around R8,854)
