Sometimes I think I would rather do this than sit in morning traffic…
An employee at Google in California lived in a campervan for over a year, and his campervan was not placed in a scenic park next to a flowing river, but rather in the Google parking lot.
But it’s not all doom and gloom.
The Google campus offers three meals a day, a gym, and showers. So Matthew Weaver was only partially camping, I would say.
“There were all sorts of rooms with pianos and foosball tables, and all these kinds of things, so I had plenty to do when I was taking a break from work.”
Because this all happened back in 2005, security at Google did not mind. In fact, they looked after his campervan for him and kept an eye on things when he wasn’t around.
Weaver started a trend – more and more employees started living on campus.
Ben Discoe lived in his station wagon for 60 weeks.
What prompted all this? Weaver was dared.
