After the video emerged of NFL player Ray Rice punching his wife in an elevator, the victim herself, Janay Palmer, has come to the defence of her husband.

The video shows Rice striking Palmer (who at the time was his fiancée) in an Atlantic City hotel, knocking her out and causing her to hit her head on the hand-rail in the elevator.

The video has caused an uproar from the NFL and media about the incident, but Palmer appears to just want her defenders to stop and media interest to die down.

I woke up this morning, feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend.But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare itself. No one know the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret everyday is a horrible thing.
