Phil McNamara and his wife Linda were certainly in the right place at the right time. The Australian couple were on holiday in Papau New Guinea and decided last minute to hop onto a boat to see Mount Tavurvur erupt.
And wow did they get a good look, and feel.
“…Absolutely crapped themselves…”
After the volcano erupted, the sonic boom that washed over them literally rocked the boat.
The eruption, on August 29th, resulted in a nearby communities being evacuated and international flights being re-routed.
