President Jacob Zuma is once again forcing colleagues to update their CV’s by switching up government positions.
This time, he has hit out at state security agencies.
“Dennis Dlomo, director of the domestic branch of the State Security Agency, Simon Jabulani Ntombela, and deputy director general of domestic collection Nozuko Bam have been “redeployed” to the department of international relations and co-operation.”
There are obviously unanswered questions as to why Zuma is doing this to people previously thought to be in his circle of trust. Also, it raises concern for the country’s security institution and what consequences are to come.
One reason could be that Zuma fears “they are too loyal to the former state security minister, Siyabonga Cwele”. Seems Zuma has also lost faith in Cwele, who was once one of his most trusted lieutenants.
Could this have something to do with the recent hand over of the ‘spy tapes’ to godzille of the DA?
The Mail&Guardian spoke to an ANC leader who said the reason behind this latest purging was “to stabilise our intelligence services”.
