Hahahaha, men.
This is one competition I am quite happy to lose.
Australian researchers at Bond University in Queensland have found that sharks are more likely to attack men than women.
“Men are targeted in 84 per cent of all unprovoked shark attacks, and make up 89 per cent of all shark bite fatalities.”
So, statistically, that means women have more chance of surviving a shark attack than men.
Also, don’t spend too much time in the water when in Aus – they have the highest amount shark attack deaths. The study, over 30 years, ending in 2011, shows interesting results. Australia has seen 171 shark attacks, 32 of which were fatal, versus South Africa’s 132 bites and 28 fatalities.
So, stay in sunny South Africa and enjoy our beaches.
