Founder of SurethingSA, Richard Neville had a little sit down with Fin24, and had a little chat about his amazing online gadget insurance company.
The first of its kind in South Africa (truth!), SurethingSA is the first online gadget insurance company where you can insure your precious gadgets without having to add them to an existing insurance policy. GENIUS.
Here are some Q&A’s from Fin24 to ‘ole Richard:
Give a bit of background on yourself.
I am 37 years old and from Cape Town and started working in the insurance field at 21.
I started the second pet insurance company in SA – MediPetSA – in September 2007. The company is now the largest pet insurer in the country.
I spent 12 years at Murrayclan Insurance Brokers, became MD and a director. I left to establish my own insurance brokerage, Forsyth & Nash in June 2013.
I started SurethingSA in December 2013 with R50 000.
How did you become an entrepreneur?
I have always had a fascination for business and successful start-up stories. I love the challenge of being my own boss and setting myself tasks to accomplish.
I also love the freedom of being able to make my own decisions, both the good and the bad ones and learning to deal with the consequences.
Tell us a bit about your business SurethingSA.
It offers affordable online gadget insurance cover aimed at the young people of SA.
