Des Hague, the multimillionaire CEO of sports catering company Centerplate, has been caught on video mistreating a dog.
The video was from CCTV footage of an elevator in the building where Hague resides, showing him dragging a Doberman puppy by its leash and kicking the animal several times.
Hague then issued a statement following the release of the footage:
“I am ashamed and deeply embarrassed… a minor frustration with a friend’s pet caused me to lose control of my emotional response… I would like to extend my apology to my family, company and clients, as I understand that this has also reflected negatively on them.”
His company, Centerplate, announced that Hague would be donating $100,000 toward an organisation to help the protection of animals in Vancouver, and will be serving 1,000 hours of community service at an animal protection agency.
