In something that sounds like the opening chapter of a CSI episode, a prostitute’s headless body was found in a Durban stadium by municipal workers.
The body has been identified as Desiree Murugan, although the severed head was not recovered despite further searches in Shallcross Stadium.
The 39-year-old was the mother of a six-year-old boy. Murugan was also said to have had a drug habit.
“Regardless of her drugs and line of work, she did not deserve to die in such a barbaric way,” said her sister Jennet.
The police are investigating and following up on leads.
