Mario Oriani-Ambrosini, an MP for the IFP, has died, having taken his own life, after battling with stage four lung cancer since last year.
“This choice was made not out of weakness, fear or despair, but from his courage or determination to be the final decision maker concerning his own fate.”
Mr Oriani-Ambrosini had pled to President Jacob Zuma and his government to make “medical marijuana” legal in South Africa, as has been done in many of the states in the US.
He started the Cancer Treatment Campaign earlier this year, which he will be remembered through and which will continue to fight against cancer.
