Ah, local politics. Never a dull moment. Pallo Jordan is keeping us entertained this week with his resignation as MP from the ANC, because he actually doesn’t have his PhD and lied to everyone. But, Professor Jonathan Jansen, the rector and vice-chancellor of the University of the Free State, thinks Pallo should be GIVEN an honorary doctorate. In a slightly hypocritical quote, Jansen said that “Jordan was deserving of the doctorate, although the country needed to adapt a zero tolerance policy to dishonesty”.
At least he is a politician and not a neurosurgeon. No one wants a fake neurosurgeon.
