Keeping things authentic, especially in a 20th-century period drama, is pretty crucial, and the latest poster for Downton Abbey does not manage to achieve that.

A new promotional poster to plug Season 5 of the long-running show has been released and has circulated like wild-fire, but for all the wrong reasons.

The image of Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville) and Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) initially looks spot-on, but there’s something in the background that looks a little out of place – a plastic water bottle. Common folk…

It must’ve been placed there by someone working on the set, and while small, it’s a pretty big blunder to make for the show which prides itself on authenticity. How did they not spot it before sending out the material!?
