Jacob Zuma has finally submitted his response to Thuli Madonsela’s Nkandla report and he made all 20 pages of it public yesterday afternoon. Here are the key points – he only gets to them in the last 3 pages!
According to the City Press, these are the things that are most important about his response:
1.Police minister Nkosinathi Nhleko must “expedite” the review of the National Key Points Act currently under way, and report back to Cabinet.
2.Nhleko should report to Cabinet whether President Jacob Zuma is liable to contribute to the security upgrades, having regard to “legislation, past practices, culture and findings contained in the respective report”.
3.Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi should “urgently report to Cabinet on the review of protocols and procedures regarding procurement, expenditure and oversight applicable to prestige and related projects”.
