Surviving as a high quality business in a high-cost area is a challenge. When rents increase, cuts have to be made and the legend of the bad hotel scrambled eggs is reinvented, in the same bland watery fashion time and time again – until now.
We can all agree that Sandton is the most up-and-coming hot spots for lavish living and luxuriating. Not only is it one of the biggest business hubs in Jo’burg, it plays host to some of the most lavish and beautiful hotels in the city as well. Naturally, demand is high for ground space and rent is even higher.
So the quandary faces these luxury spots; pay for the location and skimp on the scrambled eggs, or move a little further out of the hub and have a little extra to spend on your chefs? The Maslow chose to do neither. They remain in the heart of Sandton, radiating luxury and class, AND they do mean scrambled eggs for breakfast!
Their restaurant, Lacuna, does not compromise on the quality of their food to maintain their prime location. Nor does the hotel as a whole compromise on keeping up with the times, boasting a range of craft beers, their own branded house wine, and of course a carefully selected food and wine pairing suggestion.
There is no excuse for watery scrambled eggs – as The Maslow has shown us – and bad food is not the way to start a good day.
