It seems to be an unwritten rule that woman can get pampered whenever they damn well please, and men have to obtain some kind of sports injury to be rewarded with a mere calf massage.
It’s true – women have long since known the sweet luxury of having their scalps massaged, just before having their locks snipped, styled and fussed over. But for most men, a haircut is just about practicality, right?
WRONG!
Enter: the Barbershop!
While a barber may seem like an old fashioned thing (because, equality?!) there is no luxury quite like that of having your hair tended to by an expert who is passionate about giving you the best ‘do they possibly can, while also talking about the things you actually want to hear while getting a manly close shave.
As with all great things, the Barbershop has slowly been making a come back. There have been some that have been around for ages, and while the trend is now returning in a big way, some newer ones are popping up all over Cape Town.
It is a man-cave of sorts, where men can be free to indulge in paying attention to their style, pampering their follicles and having a little down-time without the worry of seeming less manly or overly concerned with their hair, while getting that ultra desired close shave.
Here are 5 that will give you that Short back and Sides and a Cut-Throat shave:
The Lobby – Woodstock
Yogi’s – CBD
Sweeney’s Barber Shop – CBD
Barnet Fair – Woodstock Exchange
Mr Cobbs The Barber – The Waterfront
