In other disturbing news today, porn is making its way into family living rooms in time for many kids to accidentally stumble upon it. How many kids are still watching TV at 8pm? Too many to be airing porn?
Many people say yes, far too many to be airing porn!
“The justice alliance believes that it is a step too far to introduce pornography to the family TV, which is usually in the only living room in the home,” the alliance said yesterday.
“Inevitably children will be aware of it, even if parents attempt to prevent them watching. The 8pm watershed period is absurd because teenage children settle down to watch TV at that time after doing their homework.”
The justice alliance said it was supported by applications brought by Cause for Justice and Doctors for Life.
While there is something a bit disturbing about having porn available on TV when you may sit down as a family to watch some end-of-day mind-numbing entertainment, it seems pretty unlikely that the family will gather together and watch porn.
It is also unclear whether On Digital Media (Top TV) will be the one’s broadcasting this under their licence, to broadcast porn and under the same security and protective features previously put in place for pornographic channels.
