Sometimes, conversations can go nowhere fast. If only there was a way to cut them short. Now let’s say it together: “there’s an app for that.”
This Is Your Out (TIYO) is a new app that generates excuses to bail out of a conversation with one touch of a button.
The app’s creator, Ivan Lukianchuk, says that the app was inspired by his wife, who was constantly complaining about not being able to do work because of her chatty co-workers.
“People like to focus on the dating aspect of it … but it’s really made for difficult situations. There’s certain people you just can’t tell to screw off,” he told Mashable. “Say you have a co-worker, you really can’t stand them, but you have to be nice because you see them every day and they’re best friends with your boss … You either have to grin and bear it or find a way out.”
When the app button is pushed, your phone will ring, and a voice recording will play once you answer it.
One example is a babysitter calling to report that a child is sick. The user simply follows the voice instructions and anyone nearby can watch as you verbally play out the fake emergency on your phone.
