GQ is doing something different with it’s upcoming issue, and instead of plastering its cover with models and actors, they’re featuring the story of Richard Lee Norris.
Norris is known as somewhat of a medical miracle, after he was disfigured when a shotgun accident blew off half his face. He had to receive one of the most advanced and complex face transplants, with teeth, a jaw and even a tongue from the donor.
The doctor that performed the face transplant on Norris, Dr Eduardo Rodriguez, said that Norris knew the enormous responsibility that he would be taking on with the operation.
‘He never really thought about himself in all of this,’ Rodriguez told the magazine.
‘He’s always thought about helping the wounded warriors and the other people, and providing hope. He’s a remarkable man.’
