Not everyone can have a huge cheering fan base to motivate them along their way. It takes a lot of effort to build such a fan base, and yet more effort to keep them. This all seems like far too much hard work. Here’s Korea’s solution…
Robots! DUH! And this is exactly what Korean Baseball underdogs Hanwha Eagles did to try and get more people to “attend”games.
Hanwha Eagles supporters not able to get to the stadium can control the robot over the internet.
The bots can cheer, chant and perform a Mexican wave – but presumably not invade the pitch.
It is hardly surprising that the teams support is dipping slightly with more than 400 losses in five years. For those die-hard fans, you can also upload an image of your face to the face of the bot so that other fans can see who is supporting the team and presumably it makes the support somewhat more realistic for the players.
