Have a look at the above video clip uploaded to Vine by user – Rashid Polo. Notice something weird? He did, and many other shoppers do too.
This phenomenon was not a new experience for Polo, and no matter where he was or what he was doing, it seemed he was guilty of only one crime: shopping while black.
So he came up with the brilliant idea to catch the clerks on camera and uploaded the resulting videos to Vine.
With celebs like Pres. Obama and Oprah reporting similar treatment, this is not a new problem, nor does it seem to be limited to just the USA.
Craziest thing… it happened again while this guy was filming!
This is pretty easy to read, and sadly this is an assumption A LOT of us too often make without even thinking about it. Plan of action: we should all be more aware of our prejudices or be prepared to be caught out.
