Everyone is now taking selfies… by the time your grandma is doing it, it is no longer cool and it is time for a new trend. Bring on the age of dronies! Yes, that’s right… it is a pic/shot clip of yourself/selves (we don’t judge) shot by your very own (or you much cooler friend’s) drone with epic results.
A ‘dronie’, also known as a ‘sky selfie’, is like selfie-plus – a ‘selfie’ taken, not by a camera phone in your outstretched hand, but by a flying drone camera.
Given the range and scope of a drone, a dronie is best done in a short video format, rather than a single image[…].
Twitter was one of the first to make use of the dronie, introducing it to the Cannes Lions advertising festival last month. The social media company used a flying camera to take short videos of people in a garden, then used video editing to make it look like the drone started its journey in space before zooming in on the waving participants.
This is the time to get your own drone, because this is the next biggest thing and you will soon find dronies taking over your Facebook and Twitter feeds.
You don’t want to be left with your outdated selfies, do you?
