It seems like Tinder has grossly misjudged the power of their misogyny, as the dirty details they didn’t want us to know, begin to emerge. Whitney Wolfe was instrumental in co-founding the app as well as getting it off the ground, why are the execs hiding this info?
A Bloomberg Businessweek writer who wrote about Tinder’s early success is now lashing out against the makers of the popular dating app with an explosive new piece.
The reporter, Nick Summers, concluded that Whitney Wolfe, the woman who’s suing the company behind Tinder over allegations that she was sexually harassed, wasn’t just a high-level marketing executive there.
She was actually one of the app’s co-founders — a fact that other executives at Tinder tried to obscure once the app started becoming popular.
Among other dirty details that Nick dishes out, he reports on the disgusting level of sexism Whitney received from the other marketing execs.
Among other accusations, [Whitney] alleges in her lawsuit that [Justin] Mateen [chief marketing officer and ex-boyfriend of Whitney’s] told her that having a female CEO “devalues” the app and “makes the company seem like a joke.”
What a stupid move, Justin! If the woman is sussed enough to co-found such a wildly popular app, and play a key role in getting over 200% growth in just one week, she is going to wipe the floor with you for being so arrogant.
This could spell the end for Tinder, and if not it certainly says something shocking about the ideologies behind it.
