In what’s said to be the biggest drug bust in recent history, police have impounded uncut heroin worth over R2bn from a drug cartel in Kloof on Tuesday night.
The plush home, which is surrounded by high walls topped with electrified fencing, was encircled by police, who raided the property as darkness descended.
The pungent aroma of chemicals that lingered in the street on Tuesday was the only subtle hint at a high-powered drug ring operating in the leafy suburb.
Apparently police received a tip off, whereafter heavily armed officers swooped in on the home.
Three men, two of whom are Chinese nationals, were arrested at what police called a “sophisticated drug laboratory”
Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said that the officers had seized almost 100 industrial sized bags of the addictive drug.
