UPDATE: Watch Malema being kicked out of Parliament. EFF leader Julius Malema ordered to leave the National Assembly, trailed by other EFF members. VIEW ARTICLE
Good old Julius is proving to be every bit as controversial and argumentative as we expected – so much so that he was asked to leave parliament yesterday following his refusal to withdraw a statement about the Marikana massacre.
In part of Wednesday’s disorderly conduct during his very first speech in parliament, Juju stated that it was the ANC who was responsible for the killing of mineworkers at Marikana. When National Council of Provinces chairperson Thandi Modise, instructed Malema to withdraw this statement – ruling it as unconstitutional and out of line with the decorum of the parliamentary house – Malema responded with defiance.
Instead of withdrawing, Malema replied: “Chair, when police reduce crime you come here and say the ANC has reduced crime. When police kill people, you don’t want us to come here and say the ANC government has killed people. That is inconsistent, honourable chair.”
Modise again insisted Malema withdraw his statement.
“I’m sorry, I won’t do that,” a defiant Malema said.
Modise said she had not alternative but to ask the fiery EFF leader to “leave the house”.
The overall-clad EFF members did as they were told, but not before (once again) causing havoc.
We called it: parliamentary sessions are definitely going to be FAR more lively with Juju there.
