Hotel restaurants often get the short-end of the stick. While they undoubtedly have incredible food, they’re known to be all fancy-pants and tight-collared – not really giving you that comfortable dining experience.
An ideal situation would be something that’s fun, hip and snazzy, while also maintaining that quality and trendiness you’d expect from a hotel chow-down, giving you that delicious Sunday lunch without having to visit the in-laws.
Savour seems to have done exactly that.
Settled in between the CBD, this lavish hotel restaurant takes you out of the craziness of Cape Town, and gives you a comfortable and relaxing environment, where a carvery that puts other buffets to shame is on offer, and this place takes the cake for variety.
Regardless of what you’re in the mood for, there’s something to tuck into – whether it be seared beef carpaccio, freshly shucked oysters, chermoula lamb cutlets or even punishing the multitude of desserts – it’s all on offer.
And if you’re concerned that it’s too “sophisticated” for the little ones, that’s not the case, as kids under the age of 12 can dine on the house and enjoy the Sound Room, where kiddies’ movies are screened and popcorn and slush drinks are provided. Can someone say “lunch-date?”
And that’s not even the best part – during your lunch you’ll have access to unlimited (read: unlimited) glasses of bubbly!
The lunch happens every first Sunday of the month and costs R495p/p, which is not far-off from those high-end restaurants, which can often be as jam-packed as a sweat-shop.
